About us
How it all began…
My name is Noah, and I’m the founder of RiseBrace.
For as long as I can remember, mornings were a source of stress — not just for me, but for the people I care about.
I’ve always been a heavy sleeper. I’ve slept through phone alarms, loud alarm clocks, even the kind that sound like a fire drill. I was late for classes, late for work, and constantly apologizing. Every night I would go to bed thinking:
“Please, let me wake up on time tomorrow.”
But what really changed everything wasn’t my own struggle.
It was watching people I love who are Deaf or hard of hearing go through something even worse.
They tried vibrating pillows, flashing lights, bed shakers, smartphones, smartwatches… and still, most mornings, they had to rely on someone else to wake them up. A partner. A parent. A roommate.
No independence. No privacy. Just this constant fear of oversleeping and letting people down.
One day, after another conversation about missed alarms and anxiety, something clicked for me:
Waking up shouldn’t depend on how well you hear.
So I started sketching ideas.
What if the alarm didn’t live on your nightstand or under your pillow, but on your wrist?
What if it was silent for everyone else, but impossible to ignore for you?
What if it was designed from day one for Deaf, hard-of-hearing and deep sleepers – not as an afterthought?
I talked to Deaf and HoH friends, heavy sleepers, shift workers, exhausted parents. I listened to stories about lost jobs, missed exams, and relationships strained by blaring alarms at 5:30 a.m.
Then came the long months:
-
Prototyping different vibration patterns
-
Testing comfort so it could be worn all night
-
Tweaking battery life so it wouldn’t die at 6 a.m.
-
Getting raw, honest feedback from the exact people I wanted to serve
After many failed versions and a lot of learning, RiseBrace was born:
a silent vibrating wristband that wakes you on time, even if you can’t hear a thing — without waking the person sleeping next to you.
More than a product. A bit of freedom.
For some people, RiseBrace is “just” a better alarm.
But for someone who is Deaf, hard of hearing or an extreme heavy sleeper, it can mean something much bigger:
-
Not having to beg a partner or parent to be your human alarm clock
-
Not living with constant fear of oversleeping and disappointing people
-
Being able to share a bed, a room, or a small apartment without waking everyone up
That’s what drives me.
Every time I read a message like “I’m Deaf and this finally wakes me up” or “My partner can finally sleep through my alarms”, it reminds me why I started this in the first place.
The mission behind RiseBrace
RiseBrace exists for anyone who has ever felt “broken” because normal alarms don’t work for them.
Our mission is simple:
Give Deaf, hard-of-hearing and deep sleepers a reliable, quiet and dignified way to wake up — on their own.
We’re still improving, still listening, still building with you.
This is just the beginning.
